Beautiful Jigsaws - Victoria Dalziel

Good afternoon everyone, well as many of you know Tonic Studios Jigsaw Die & stamps sold out in record breaking time so I have more cards and a wall hanging I made for the shows to share with you all so I will go ahead and post them all below.

This is an 8"x8" card blank the base layer from the jigsaw was die cut from black craft perfect card stock then the next layer that cuts all the base layer pieces in craft perfect polished gold mirror card. It was a case of mixing and matching the decorative pieces in the jet black ,bright white and Chilli Red craft perfect adding the stamps love & laughter I think this would be lovely in a frame to give to your loved one on Valentine's, the panels were then stuck down some flat and some with foam pads to create different levels to add dimension. You could even add a photo of you and a loved one together in the largest jigsaw piece the list is endless of what you can create with these sets ,definitely lots of home decor pieces.

This is a wall hanging I couldn't get my hands on the right size canvas so I cut a couple of the 8x8 squares from the Greek Temple die set and glued them back to back to make a solid board using 2x sheets of 300gsm card stock in ivory then cutting a layer in the beautiful majestic gold pearlecent craft perfect card the base layer from the jigsaw set was Espresso brown craft perfect and then cream craft perfect the 4 corner pieces were distressed with gold nuvo mousse and the tea and coffee stamps were stamped with a clear ink pad and white nuvo embossing powder , thinking along the lines of tea and coffee my mind shot back a few yrs to the die sets we had with the teacup and teapot/ coffee pot I luv to bring the older dies back as I know many of you have them in your stash and one thing tonic are good at is designing new dies that work really well on there own but also with your older tonic dies.
The back of the wall handing I used the hangers from the Shadow box die set and then threaded a rich brown satin ribbon and wmatching bow with a decorative button and bakers twine.

My idea behind this card was the queen of hearts I was thinking hearts, jigsaw and playing cards and that's where the colours came from I just wanted a very plain modern look for this one the gorgeous black glossy craft perfect was pardon the pun perfect for this card a lot of paper piecing but I definitely think it was worth it what more could you ask for family and friends ,the heart was cut out of a white 7x7 card blank using the latest affection die sets Tonic launched a few weeks ago.

And finally a 7x7 twisted easel card using the colours for white wine and chocolate now who wouldn't say no to either one .I decided for this card just to take 5x jigsaw pieces from the set and make a smaller card using one of the jigsaw pieces as the stopper for the easel ,I also added the wine glasses from the Rococo celebration die sets ,all you need is wine and Chocolate sounds perfect to me. The card stock was Champagne craft perfect and also ivory and chocolate brown craft perfect also the stamps were stamped using the brown nuvo hybrid inks.

Well that's all from me for the time being thank you for popping over to my blog today and I hope to be sharing some new things with you all

Confetti, sequins, and glitter - oh my! - Jennifer Kray

All I can say is TGIF and phew, what a week!

it's been super extra busy for me and I'd love to start my Friday by sharing three cards and a mixed media tutorial using some of the new Tonic Studios confetti, sequins and glitter. Now this is a loooong blog post so if your're not a reader, there are lots and lots of photos you can enjoy.
That said...OH MY STARS!! There are craft embellishments and there are 'craft embellishments'! You KNOW what I mean and I don't need to say much else except YOU NEED, YOU NEED, YOU NEED. I honestly rubbed my hands with glee and squealed when my parcel arrived.
I've made a trio of cards, which I'll share with you but my main focus is a mixed media technique based tutorial.

I was shocked after typing and linking the long list of materials for this relatively simple card. But then again, it's mixed media so what did I expect?! lol

Tonic Materials Used
Nuvo Watercolour Card
Other Materials
Foam Pads
We R Memory Keepers Plastic Next Level Embossing Folders - Geometric

AssembleThis is a 15.25 cm squared card (6 x 6 inches)
Ocean blue 15.25 cm (6 x 6 inches)
Black Gloss 14.6 (5.75 x 5.75 inches)
Mixed Media Card 14cm (5.5 x 5.5 inches)

Gilding Flakes
After embossing your mixed media card, apply Nuvo Pen adhesive in a random pattern and wait for the tackiness (about a minute or so).
Apply the gilding flakes with your fingers to cover the entire card and give it 30 seconds or so to ensure it sticks. Take a stiff brush and gently wipe away all the excess flakes. You can add more glue and repeat the process if required.
*Please note - gilding flakes are crazy mofos and get everywhere so hold your breathe and hope for the best! I ate more than I used
Using Aqua Flow Pens, splatter some ink on your mixed media card. I really really like all the texture this card has - with the geometric embossed shapes, gilding flakes and ink splatters.

The Butterflies and sentiment
Using Watercolour card, cut out two butterflies and a sentiment and colour them with your Aqua Flow Pens.

Now add Mirrorball Glitter, Aqua Flakes and sequins to the butterflies. Adhere to your card.

With the base layer/ sentiment itself, use your embossing folder after you've die cut them. This ensures your embossing doesn't get squished. The effect is subtle but lovely. Now, add a few gilding flakes to the background base of the sentiment for a little something extra. To finish the sentiment use the glitter gloss Nuvo Pen for a little sparkle. You can see I did this AFTER the background base was glued down and was intentional to let some of the colour to leak. The thing about mixed media is you need to embrace imperfection and celebrate the flaws.

Simply finish your card with additional sequins and you have a wonderful mixed media piece.
I just LOVE the AQUA Flakes on the butterfly and the way the gilding flakes catch the light.

My husband is not a mixed media fan but he said my mixed media card was visually stunning and his favourite. I was surprised and maybe he's been converted, hehe.
My other two cards are shaker cards using some of the other Nuvo Confetti and Sequins, which are LUSH!
Star shaker card
A2 card (5x5 inches x 4.25 inches)
Tonic Basic Latyering Stars, Nuvo Glitter Drops, Craft Perfect Paper and Nuvo Twine were used to create this wonderfully simply shaker style card. Aren't the new Confetti and sequins beautiful?!
As this is an A2 size, I also made a quick envelope to complete the project.
XL shaker tag
This giant tag uses A LOT of glitter! And sequins!
This BEAUTIFUL die set, DL Layering Dies - Decorative Vanity is glorious in gold and makes a perfect shaker card.

The Nuvo Glitter and Sequins are a match made in heaven - look at that sparkle!

I know this has been a really long post - and thanks for hanging in there with me! I've enjoyed the sequins, glitter and confetti so much and will be using them regularly.
The wonderful Paula Pascual will be on Hochanda today, 12th January, 2018 at 6pm with some wonderful demonstrations.
If you have any questions just ask and I'd be happy to answer. I'd also love you to leave me feedback/a comment.
Thank you so much and have a great weekend!

Lots of love and hugs

Alphabet Puzzle - Victoria Dalziel

Good afternoon everyone ,Sharing a little project I created for tonight's Jigsaw Launch from Tonic Studios launching at 6pm on Hochanda,A show not to be missed as the team have made amazing samples.
The minute I saw these Jigsaw dies it screamed out to me a child's puzzle so I decided learning the alphabet puzzle would be a good idea.

To create these Jigsaw pieces cut the base layer Twice and stick back to back using Tonic Studios Deluxe adhesive it then has the feel of a chunky chipboard and great for the children to hold or older children to hold with learning difficulties this was my idea behind this puzzle it could just a easily be numbers or anything you like .

The box is 2x pieces of card measuring 6x6 and scoring 1" all the way around making sure the lid is slightly bigger the lid will need to be die cut in the centre using the larger jigsaw piece to make the window and then add Tonic Studios construction accitate using red liner tape then to decorate the box you will need to add a small jigsaw piece to the front of the box using craft perfect card stock in red & yellow & cornflower blue the sentiment is from the Kaleidoscope box set.
The side of the box has been decorated in the plain jigsaw layer and trimmed of to make it neat the box is also lined inside to leave a nice finish and also gives strength to the box.

This side is A to M starting with the large centre and working around the outside then you break the bits up turn them over and the other side is N to Z .
The Alphabet sets from Tonic are a perfect fit for these jigsaw pieces

Hope you enjoyed the puzzle

Until next time xx

Festive Friends - A Bevvy of Beautiful Baubles - Lou Sims

Another quick post catching up on all the Christmas projects I should have probably shared before Christmas! Getting through them quickly before 12th night arrives ...

Although the photos do not show it, this is a multi layered shaker card and I'll try my best to explain how and why. The why was simple, I wanted to use the snowflake die but did not want to place it inside the shaker ... I know, would have been easier if I probably did ...

I began by die cutting the base shapes out of the Craft Perfect card and very carefully/lightly drew around the aperture on the white card blank. Next taking the snowflake, I placed this over the areas I wanted it to appear, sticking it directly to the card base. To 'capture' the snowflake, I used acetate, raising it with 1mm 3D foam. This creates a shadow/layered effect. The gold card layer was then added over all of the latter.

I stamped the bauble images on to white card with clear ink, embossed with gold and using the matching dies, cut out the baubles. I added all the shaker fillings carefully on to the acetate layer, added the shaker blisters, (capturing all the goodies), and then stuck down the stamped & embossed

The baubles were finished with co-ordinating coloured ribbon and twine. I haven't added a sentiment to the card - looking at it now, maybe I should have as it looks a little bare - because I added 'Happy Christmas' die cuts to the shaker parts. Uuummm, still undecided on the sentiment ... what do you think?

Somehow I think today will be all about the Tonic Christmas cards I forgot to share as didn't realise how many I had missed ... whoops!

Boho Beautiful - Jennifer Kray

Hello and Happy New Year! This is my first blog post of the year and I am delighted to share this project with you all.
Tonic Studios have launched a new set of Boho Beautiful dies and my absolute favourite is this gorgeous lady, Ava! I thought she had a Native American vibe so that's what I went with.
Tonic Materials Used:

Other Materials
Distress Inks - Black Soot, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Stormy Sky and Shipped Sapphire
Deep Purple Card Stock for Card base.
Pebeo Liquid Gilding - King Gold
Candi (CWC)
White Gesso
Nuvo Blue Glitter Marker - Dark BlueDistress Inks were used to create a night effect background using Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, Wilted Violet Picked Raspberry and Black Soot and then splashed with white Gesso.

I let dry naturally as I wanted to keep the effect. I then added more white Gesso and Pebeo gedeo King Gold Liquid Gilding. As you can see, I smudged a blog of gesso just to the left of centre but my Boho covered it up perfectly. If you look really closely you can see the there is an oily residue around some of the gold splatter - don't worry, when this dries, if disappears. This liquid gilding is my absolute favourite craft product ever. I cut the original A4 sheet down to 15.25cm squared (6x6)

Cut your Boho lady out to get an idea of how you are going to use her. I thought she looked like a beautiful Native American woman so worked around that. There are four different Bohos but she is my favourite.

As well as our lady and the night sky, I used this quote by Chief Dan George. The entire phrase is:
“May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears,
And, above all, may silence make you strong”.

I was so moved by these words, they really resonated with me and found them powerful and beautiful.
The words have been cut out, inked around the edges and bordered with Navy Craft Perfect Card.
Here is just some of the die cuts which were used to build up the card. The dies are cut and then embossed. I cut out another blue boho and put gold craft perfect paper behind it and added gold glitter to where her headband sits. there is also a splash of gilding paint on the blue feather.
Once you put the other blue Boho over your later, you can see how everything comes together. Now place all your die cuts down and make a small bow with twine. I used a Candi from CWC but coloured it with my Nuvo Glitter Pens.
The card blank is 17.75cm squared or 7 inches. All the die cuts are assembled and your quote adhered, stick your bow on with hot glue and that's about it! Hoping I've done her justice and I felt a little sad she was sent in to Tonic.

I did make four other cards so will give you a little snippet....
Thanks so much for stopping by and I really hope you've liked my project.
I'll be back again soon
Lots of love and hugs
Jennifer xx
